The Top Hand runs and manages the crew on top of the tower. Top Hands assist in the construction, installation, and maintenance of communications towers. Top Hands collaborate directly with the Foreman to ensure a timely, high quality, and safe project.
Job Requirements
Safety Conscious
Physically able and willing to climb cell towers up to 400ft.
Travel up to two weeks at a time
Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions, which sometimes include more extreme hot or cold weather conditions.
Top Hand Experience greater than 1-year
Complete all necessary training (Comp Climber, OSHA, CPR, First Aid, Etc.)
Ability to lift 50lbs.
Assist with testing of new and existing equipment.
General knowledge of hand tools
Coax, Fiber routing/handling
Knowledge of basic tower rigging techniques.
Runs required lines to top of the tower; grounds coax lines and builds different sizes and types of connectors.
Proficient with installation of antennas, RRH’s, ground kits, RET systems.
Knows the hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on or near energized lines and equipment.
Installation and modifying sector mounts, T-Booms, platforms, and banding of monopoles.
Installation of Ice Bridges.
Installing, testing, and troubleshooting RRU/BBU equipment on towers.
Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
